Rise with night. Its when they come. Its safer to sleep during the day. We move without torches. Trying not to make a sound. Listening for their strange calls. Half hoot. half growl. David slips. He hurts his ankle and shouts. There is a moment of silence as we hold our breaths. They come... Fear of the creatures turns to panic. We split up. Running in small groups. Twigs snapping underfoot. Heavy breathing. Human screams and unnatural howls. I am with Sally and Kevin. We do not know where John and Lily are. David is probably dead. Sally starts to lose it. She screams we are all going to die! I want my mom. I slap her. She looks at me with tears on her cheeks. We hear them. I place my finger to my lips. Quiet. I hear the creatures. They come...

He cannot help himself the doctor tells me. He may remain unreachable in this state. Unresponsive. David sits staring ahead at some horror. Trapped in the trauma that led him here. He is the only one of his group of friends to be found on the mountain so far. There are strange claw marks on his body and black soot like stains surround his eyes. He was like this when they found him the doctor says. We turn away from the room David is locked in. How long were they up there I ask. I am told around 8 months. They had no food on them when they left their camp. There were no signs of a struggle. Just people rushing away from their camp as one group from around where their fire had been. About a kilometre into the woods the group started to split into smaller groups one by one. As we talk over the facts a low moan is heard coming from David's room quickly becoming a loud shriek. We reach the door the doctor fumbling the keys. Through the security glass bright light seems to surround him. We burst into the room. The light has faded. The room is dim. David is nowhere to be seen.

She crawls into the opening. Sally does not know how she got away. The creatures were all around. John is dead now. She has seen them. Great skinny monsters covered in dank hair. Leaves and bits of their food matted into their hides. Their eyes. Haunting white lights shining from their eyes. I must run. They are everywhere. They seem to walk out of the shadows. I want to go home. Sally is awoken screaming. A police officer is waking her. He says it is all right. They found David. They ask if she knows where the others are. Sally starts to sob uncontrollably.

I cannot find the transmitter. Have pulled out teeth. Nothing under the nails. The eyesockets have nothing hidden. This is unusual. Nothing in nasal or rectal passages. We have had no visitors for awhile. They didn't know the codeword. Said they were lost. We cannot assume truth. Perhaps this one wasn't lying.
